Secara fisik, BlackBerry Curve 8530 sama persis dengan BlackBerry Curve 8520 atau Gemini. Keduanya memiliki panjang 10,9 cm, lebar 6 cm, tebal 1,3 cm, dan berat 106 gram. Material dan bentuk keypad Qwerty-nya pun tak ada yang berbeda.

Hanya saja perbedaan terletak pada jaringan. Jika Gemini beroperasi di jaringan GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, Curve 8530 berjalan di jaringan CDMA 800 / 1900.

Dengan begitu, akses data untuk Curve 8530 adalah 3G Rev. 0 yang maksimal kecepatannya mencapai 153,2 Kbps, relatif lebih lambat dibandingkan Gemini yang mencapai 236,8 Kbps dengan akses data EDGE.

Selain itu, perbedaan terdapat pada kinerja prosesor. Gemini memiliki prosesor berkemampuan 512 MHz, sementara Curve 8530 mempunyai prosesor setingkat 528 MHz.
